The Ottawa International Airport Authority manages, operates, maintains and invests in the Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport under a long term lease with the federal government. The Airport Authority is a non-share capital, community-based corporation. It is fully self sufficient, receiving no government funding whatsoever. Further, airport activity generates approximately one-quarter of a billion dollars in taxes for the three levels of government and has a total economic impact of $2.2 billion each year.
The Airport Authority and the entire airport campus have been recognized over the years in the areas of architecture and design, accessibility, environmental stewardship, business development and customer service. The tradition was continued in 2011 with several important awards in customer service, including being named 1st in North America (any size of airport) and 2nd in the world for airports that serve between 2 and 5 million passengers in the annual Airport Service Quality (ASQ) passenger satisfaction benchmarking program. We were also named to Airports Council International’s Director General’s Roll of Excellence in Airport Service Quality. The Roll of Excellence provides premiere recognition to airports that have achieved extraordinary results in the ASQ program by consistently delivering excellent customer service – in our case, we have received top honours for five consecutive years.
