HOLIDAY TIPS FOR TRAVELLERS
December 15, 2005 (Ottawa) – The Ottawa International Airport Authority would like to wish all travellers a safe and pleasant trip this holiday season. They offer the following tips to help make the experience more relaxing and enjoyable:
Plan extra time into your trip to the airport and drive carefully; the roadways in and around the airport will be busier, particularly if there is bad weather to contend with;
Plan extra time for check-in and pre-board screening as the terminal will also be busier with more travellers and meeters/greeters;
Get the most up-to-date information concerning your flight by checking with your airline, travel agent, or via the airport’s website at www.ottawa-airport.ca;
Pack your luggage carefully, and use the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority’s (CATSA) list of prohibited items to determine whether you pack certain things in your carry-on or your checked luggage. This list can be found at http://www.catsa-acsta.gc.ca/english/travel_voyage/list.htm. You may also dial the toll free number 1 888 294-2202;
Don’t wrap gifts before you travel – they may be opened for a more detailed inspection;
Have complete documentation ready and available for check-in and pre-board screening and Customs Agents as applicable; and
The Airport Authority will have volunteers on hand during peak times to provide assistance to travellers.
Above all, the Airport Authority would like to wish its customers Season’s Greetings and a Happy New Year.
