April 28, 2004 (Ottawa) The Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport Authority is pleased to announce the election of the new Chairman of the Board, appointment of new Members, and the final composition of the 2004 Board of Directors.

Jim Durrell was elected the new Chairman, bringing many years of community leadership to the position.

Michel Belley was nominated by the Chambre de Commerce de Gatineau, and brings years of tourism expertise to the Board.

Eric McSweeney, who has extensive experience in land development, was nominated by the Greater Ottawa Chamber of Commerce.

Michael Skrobica brings very strong aviation knowledge to the group, and was nominated by the Air Transport Association of Canada.

“The Selecting Bodies who put forth the nominees did an outstanding job and we are looking forward to working with the new Chair, Members and the entire Board in 2004” said Paul Benoit, Airport Authority President and CEO. “We would also like to say farewell and sincere thanks to Regis Trudel and Claude Bennett for their dedication and loyal support over the past years, particularly during the expansion project”.

With the above-noted nominees, the 2004 Board of Directors is comprised of:

  • OMCIAA operates Ottawa International Airport without government subsidies under a 60-year lease transfer agreement with Transport Canada. The OMCIAA’s mandate is to manage, operate and develop airport facilities and lands in support of the economic growth of the National Capital Region. Its new state-of-the-art passenger terminal building opened for business on October 12, 2003.
