The 4th Annual Ottawa Airport/United Way Ottawa Plane Pull Challenge for Charity will take place this Saturday, September 12th at the Ottawa International Airport.
Teams of 25 will play tug-of-war with a 225,000 lb (over 102,000 kg) FedEx Airbus A310.The team that pulls the aircraft 12 feet (3.5 metres) the fastest will win bragging rights and a great prize. Last year’s winners, Ottawa Police Service “High Flyers”, will be back to defend the title and will be joined by teams from sponsors Scotiabank and ZW Project Management Inc. as well as many other organizations from the airport and the community at large.
Proceeds from the event will be split between Project Clear Skies, the Airport Authority’s charitable giving program, and United Way Ottawa.
“The Plane Pull Challenge is all about doing something fun and unique in the name of raising funds for those who are less fortunate” said Paul Benoit, Ottawa Airport Authority President and CEO. “A full roster of 35 teams confirms that’s what the community we live in is about as well. Thanks to our teams and sponsors, September 12th is going to be an outstanding day”.
