ZIP will commence flying to and from Ottawa on February 2nd, 2003. Their brightly colored fleet of Boeing 737s will offer service to Victoria, Abbotsford, Calgary, Edmonton, and Winnipeg.

ZIP (ZIP Air Inc.) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Air Canada, which offers low fares and high value to the travelling Canadian public. ZIP operates on primarily short haul routes, offering convenient connections to the Air Canada worldwide network.

Ottawa Airport President and CEO Paul Benoit welcomes the increased choice that ZIP will offer Ottawa travellers and says “the addition of the ZIP flights means increased availability to western Canada destinations for our clients, and more visitors to our city, both of which are very good news.”

OMCIAA operates Ottawa International Airport without government subsidies under a 60-year lease transfer agreement with Transport Canada. The Authority’s mandate is to manage, operate and develop Airport facilities and lands in support of the economic growth of the National Capital Region. Its 40-year old terminal building was last expanded in 1987. Since that time, passenger traffic has increased over 35%.
