Roadway leading to the airport

Travelling With Children

Travelling with children can be a daunting endeavour. Here are some tips that we hope will make the experience easier.

Check-in
Arrive at the airport early and give yourself plenty of time for the check-in process.

Facilities in the Terminal
There are baby change stations, nursing rooms, and family washrooms located throughout the terminal. Diapers are also available for purchase at select Relay stores.

Food & Beverage
Some airlines offer children’s meals; inquire prior to arriving at the airport. While in the terminal, there are many food and beverage options suitable for children. High chairs and booster seats are available in the food court.

Luggage, Car Seats, and Strollers
Baggage allowances are handled by each individual airline. Check with your airline to find out how best to transport your luggage, car seats, and strollers. In the interest of safety, please do not use the escalators with strollers - elevators are available. To help you transport your belongings, baggage carts are available free of charge, however there is no porter service at the Ottawa Airport.

Security Screening
All passengers, including infants and children, must undergo security screening prior to boarding an aircraft. To facilitate this process, there is a dedicated family screening line. For those travelling with infants, there are exemptions to the liquids and gels regulations. For more information, please see the Canadian Air Transportation Security Authority’s website at www.catsa.gc.ca or contact them at 1-888-294-2202.

Unaccompanied minors
Some airlines offer special services for unaccompanied minors. Contact your airline to see if they can be of any assistance to you. For a list of airlines operating out of the Ottawa Airport, click here.
